Sun Settings is our bespoke and complete event catering service based at the pub. We offer event catering and party planning in West Sussex, Hampshire & Surrey, as well as on site at the pub, in the lodge (also known as the ski lodge and clubhouse), and in our extensive gardens.
We are able to create bespoke menus to suit your taste and budget and can cater for 20-300 guests. While we have vast experience in all areas of events; we specialize in informal, outdoor, rustic-chic weddings, parties and corporate events, often built around outstanding smoked and/or barbecued meats. Our favourite wedding menu is an alluring package of generously portioned, beautiful and tasty food, across three courses (including standing starter), representing great value, an on-trend format and avoiding unnecessary waste.
Our staff are relaxed, friendly and approachable; our food is locally-sourced, extremely tasty and generously served (the antithesis of conference chicken!); our drinks range from local ales to cocktails to fine wines; and we partner with marquee, event-hire, flower, cake and DJ’s and bands to offer you a complete suite of professional services all managed under one roof.
Our pub venue has a variety of catered services and all are provided with FREE venue hire. All we ask is that you procure all your food and drinks from us! Being a pub, we can offer a cash bar (so you can easily share the drinks cost burden with your guests) or you can pre-order an event package and/or provide a free bar. Our dining room doubles up as our private dining area (40 covers) and one of our two bars make an ideal standing drinks/bowl food/canape space (30 covers). Our huge pub garden splits into two natural spaces divided by a large hedge. One side becomes a totally private event space (200 covers) and the other remains open to the public.
Within this area is the lodge, our semi-permanent event space carved from a substantial marquee with solid wood walls, windows and doors, lighting, heating and music. It is also accessed from the back of the pub, is themed as a ski lodge in the lead up to and including Christmas, and a clubhouse in summer. It has fixed seating booths and can cater for 70 seated or standing. Larger bookings can occupy an additional, hired-in marquee. It’s worth noting we never close the pub entirely to the public; events happen alongside normal pub trade. The lodge provides an excellent insurance policy against the English summer. Any garden event (up to the capacity of the lodge) can occupy this space should the weather let us down, at no extra charge!
Our brochure offers a number of sample menus: barbecues, salad bars, canapé & small plates/bowl food and street food and is regularly updated. We can also help with smaller events, christenings, wakes, kid’s parties and can create a bespoke menu for any event.
